There are a number of Genealogy Guides for Scotland, here's my speciality:

I interpret Clann, Family and Community history through traditional story - I'm a professional Storyteller and oral historian.
~ I offer both a step on guide service in your vehicle and a driven service in our vehicle.
~ Tours can be from half day to longer.

Scot on Clan Malcolm land, West Coast, Argyll

I am Scot AnSgeulaiche - Argyll's Seanachaidh (like Clann Bards of times past). I collect and share oral and written Clann, family and Scottish history.

Background ~

The ancient Scots / Irish word Seanachaidh (shan-ah-kee) means, among other things, a genealogist, a walking library, a keeper of history. One duty of the Seanachaidh was to keep the lineage and history of his clann and the neighbouring clanns. Nowadays, professional genealogists keep the blood-lineage of families. Of course, what is seldom kept by genealogists are the stories of the people as they saw themselves; the 'living people' aspect of the family tree / genealogy I keep these and can recommend genealogists for the family-tree aspect of research.

What I do ~

Some Tales are now in archives, some are still only in the oral form. All Histories are meticulously researched. I like to think that this adds a unique and valuable addition to the paper research already done. I find that what we really seek is a feeling that we know these people long past, more than merely their names. And in turn, know ourselves better.

Through the Clan, location and family Tales I can paint a picture of Highland life, past and present, that'll make you think you are talking to your ancestors, which, in a sense, you are.

I also use my knowledge of folk customs, modern Scotland, wildlife and Gàidhlig language and culture to expand the exprience for you of your genealogy.

I work especially with ex-pat Scots and Irish, mostly American, "Oor cousins o'er the watter", as I call them. If you're planning a "home visit" you might call me a Native Guide, which is always the best way to see a country!
